Lily, Leana and Hope: The Student Aspect (sandwich year programme)
The Student Aspect – Sheffield Hallam University Student Magazine
Useful ideas, perspectives and stories relating to all aspects of student life in Sheffield and beyond.

This year, three students have worked tirelessly to create and develop an online publication for the first-ever SHU Magazine placement programme.

The team have made their own brand and business model that has reached over 80 countries.

The placement has opened so many doors for us and has allowed us to learn on the job about various business skills, furthering our university experience tremendously. The Student Aspect Magazine has taught us all about marketing, networking, enterprising and various other skills as well as software development. We tackled the hardships of running a business teaching us discipline and resilience.

The Student Aspect contains content about all aspects of student life, recipes, careers, reviews and even a Dear Aspect section that encourages readers to ask questions or seek advice.

Guest Writer Week takes place at the end of each month, featuring articles from people worldwide.

The Team

The magazine is run entirely by students Hope and Leana (Journalism) and Lily (Media).

The placement for us was an opportunity for personal growth as well as developing within our specialised industries.
We are looking forward to carrying on our magazine into final year, establishing more contacts and celebrating our first anniversary with something special. We are excited to see where our magazine goes in the next year as we start advertising for businesses and utilising our transferrable skills into our post-graduate life. We are always looking for small businesses to promote, as well as guest writers to publish.
