Isabel started her placement year in an industry placement but found herself working for a company that wasn’t benefiting her. She began to feel that her placement year was a waste of time and felt she should have continued into her final year through the Coronavirus lockdown.
Isabel left her placement to find something more suitable. During this time, she decided to start her own small, handmade business selling faux fur bags and scrunchies through Instagram and Depop.
Realising the potential in her new venture, she wanted to move further, faster and moved onto a placement with the Enterprise Team. Working for herself, Isabel extended her product line, working with different fabrics, patterns and prints, and introducing illustration commissions, hair accessories and various bag designs.
She has continued to work by herself, building up her Instagram by working alongside influencers and collaborating with other artists and designers, helping to expose her account to other users.
Isabel will continue her small business through her final year, building her own brand.
