As a second year International Business student, I was given the opportunity to complete an Enterprise Residency module. This entailed creating a business idea from scratch, looking at all aspects that are involved such as financing, design, promotion and marketing etc.
I took this opportunity to design and develop a vegan app with the aim to encourage people to change their diets in order to help tackle the environmental crisis.
Through this experience I developed key skills that I consider to be essential for success in many aspects of life. Additionally, after completing this project and achieving a 1st, I felt that this was a business idea with huge potential. I therefore decided to apply for the Work for Yourself program and was successful in being accepted.
The independent nature of this module allowed my creativity to thrive as I was given the freedom to determine the nature of my assessed work, whilst also receiving guidance and encouragement from the Enterprise Team.
I would highly recommend this module to all students as it is a great opportunity to explore the process of developing independent ideas and how to put business into practice.
