The SHU Enterprise Team works with students and graduates to turn ideas into functional projects and businesses. We do this by helping to inspire, empower and motivate, through 1-1 support, workshops and programmes.
Our students do the hard work. Moving past an idea into something real is not easy, but there are two key elements that can help you make progress quickly:
Selling starts the moment you have a vision for your idea.
We're not talking about selling product or service...yet.
Sell your idea - get people interested. Get feedback. Get leads. You may not sell your product or service for another year, but your efforts now will pay off down the line.
The subject of Sales is often overlooked. Many people rely on social media to generate leads; one can easily hide behind a screen, voiceless and anonymous. Take a proactive approach to reaching people authentically. Get creative.
Have you considered picking up the phone to talk to somebody about your idea?
Sales is not only about selling your product or service but also selling yourself - your values, ambitions and strengths.
Networking is the partner of Sales. Find your people - those like you who can help you on your journey. Find your customers.
Send emails. Pick up the phone. Attend an event. Do whatever you can to talk to people about what you are trying to do, and why.
